A sanitary pressure relief valve protects hygienic pipelines, tanks, and process equipment from excessive pressure by opening when system pressure reaches a preset value. A spring-loaded mechanism uses a compression nut for pressure adjustment, while SS304 or SS316L construction, food-grade rubber sealing, and sanitary connections suit liquid and gas applications.
How the Pressure Release Mechanism Works
The valve stays closed during normal operation. The spring compression nut establishes the set pressure, and the valve opens automatically when internal pressure exceeds that setting. The released medium reduces system pressure and protects connected equipment. A hygienic pressure relief valve can also include an opening device that allows CIP cleaning through the valve and connected piping.
The pressure adjustment range is 0.5–6 bar, with a maximum working pressure of 6 bar. The operating temperature range is -10°C to +120°C. Connection standards include DIN, 3A, SMS, and ISO, with male, Tri-Clamp, and welded ends available for different sanitary piping layouts.
SS304 SS316L and Hygienic Construction

Pressure Relief and Pressure Reduction
A sanitary pressure reducing valve performs a different function from a relief valve. A reducing valve lowers downstream pressure to maintain a controlled outlet condition, while a relief valve opens when system pressure reaches its preset release point. This distinction determines whether pressure regulation or overpressure protection is required in a process system.
