A sanitary tank bottom valve with a pneumatic actuator uses a vertical stem stroke to lift the plug off the seat against gravity. Air drives a piston that moves the stem along the tank outlet axis. A top cable carries the control signal and position feedback to the cabinet, keeping wiring away from the wetted zone.

Actuator Mounting and Vertical Stroke

The actuator mounts on a bonnet pad. Air drives a piston that moves the stem in a straight line. The plug lifts off the seat against gravity. When the plug lowers, the seat closes and the tank holds.

  • Actuator mounts on the bonnet pad

  • Air drives the piston in a straight line

  • Plug lifts along the vertical axis

  • Drain opens when the plug rises

A vertical stem lets the plug clear the seat without side load. That keeps alignment through repeated cycles. The tank bottom diaphragm valve uses a flexible diaphragm instead of a plug, and it isolates the stem from the product.

Top Cable and Signal Routing

A cable enters the actuator housing through a top gland. It carries the control signal that sets valve position. A second pair of wires returns position feedback.

The top entry keeps the cable away from the tank wall and the drain stream. That reduces moisture at the terminals.

Positioner and Flow Regulation

A positioner compares the control signal to the stem position. It adjusts air pressure until the two match. That closed loop holds the plug at the commanded opening.

Flow regulation needs stable air. Moisture in the line shifts the zero point and causes drift. A filter regulator ahead of the positioner protects calibration.

Installation Steps

  1. Confirm the outlet size matches the tank nozzle.

  2. Weld or clamp the body to the nozzle and check alignment.

  3. Route the top cable through a drip loop before the gland.

  4. Connect air supply through a filter regulator.

  5. Calibrate the positioner and stroke the valve before filling.

Common Applications

  • Fermentation tank drain control

  • Dairy silo outlet regulation

  • Pharmaceutical reactor discharge

  • Brewery tank emptying

  • Food processing vessel drainage

A sanitary tank bottom valve with a positioner suits lines that ramp flow rather than open fully. The vertical stroke keeps the seat aligned through the cycle.

Cable Shielding and Electrical Noise

Analog signals pick up noise from pumps and VFDs on the same tray. A shielded twisted pair reduces that pickup. Ground the shield at the cabinet end only, so no ground loop forms through the actuator housing. Keep signal cable separated from power cable by at least 100 mm.

Check the cable gland and air filter at each service window. Replace the seat ring when cuts or hardening appear. A spare seal kit shortens unplanned downtime.

Sanitary Stainless Steel Pneumatic Flow Regulating Valve

  • The sanitary regulating valve is a type of control valve to adjust flow rate and pressure of downstream mediums. Found in most sanitary production lines, these pressure regulators allow greatly improve safety and quality control.
  • The series of valve is major let the medium reach the purpose of reversing or end stop, because the goods tightness and cleanability, they are extensively use to different sanitary industry areas.
  • Manual/pneumatic set the valve opening degree to make a pressure drop to the medium passing through the valve, thus regulating the medium pressure, flow and temperature of pipeline system.
